Things to Do in Puerto Vallarta
We’re so excited to have you join us in Puerta Vallarta for our wedding!
The wedding & reception venue-- Casa Karma-- is within walking distance of Puerta Vallarta's very colorful old town, and is the farthest point south from which you can walk in the waves all the way to the "Zona Romantica."
Whether you're relaxing by the beach, exploring the vibrant local culture, or seeking adventure, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few ideas for your time in PV:
1. Stroll the Malecon
Take a walk down Puerto Vallarta’s iconic Malecon (seaside boardwalk). Enjoy the stunning ocean views, browse local art, and stop by one of the many cafes or restaurants for a refreshing drink. You might even see some street performers or local musicians!
2. Explore Old Town (Zona Romántica)
Vibrant, charming, and full of life, Old Town offers cobblestone streets lined with colorful buildings, boutique shops, and amazing eateries. It’s the perfect place to wander, explore local art galleries, or enjoy a meal with a view.
3. Go on a Boat Tour
Take advantage of Puerto Vallarta's stunning coastline with a boat tour! Options include everything from romantic sunset cruises to snorkeling adventures. Don't miss the opportunity to spot dolphins, whales (during migration season), and enjoy the beautiful waters.
4. Visit the Botanical Gardens
Just a short drive from Puerto Vallarta, the Vallarta Botanical Gardens are a peaceful escape into nature. Wander through lush gardens filled with native plants and flowers, and take in the serene atmosphere. It’s a great place for a relaxing afternoon!
5. Relax on the Beaches
Puerto Vallarta has some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico! Head to Playa de los Muertos, one of the most famous beaches in the area, or explore some of the more secluded beaches like Playa Conchas Chinas. Whether you’re looking for water sports or just some sun, the beach is the perfect place to unwind.
6. Try a Cooking Class
Get a taste of local culture by taking a Mexican cooking class. Learn how to make traditional dishes like tacos, guacamole, and salsa. Many classes end with a delicious meal you’ve made yourself—what better way to savor the flavors of Mexico?
7. Take a Day Trip to Yelapa
Looking for a quiet escape? Take a boat ride to Yelapa, a remote beach village only accessible by boat. It's the perfect spot for hiking, swimming, and relaxing in a serene and peaceful environment.
8. Visit the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe
This iconic church is a must-see while in Puerto Vallarta. Its beautiful architecture and location in the heart of the city make it a perfect spot for a quick visit or some peaceful reflection.
9. Shop at the Local Markets
If you’re looking to take home a piece of Puerto Vallarta, head to one of the local markets. Mercado Municipal offers a variety of handmade goods, local art, and souvenirs. It’s a great way to support local artisans and find unique gifts.
10. Adventure in the Sierra Madre Mountains
For the more adventurous, take a trip into the Sierra Madre Mountains. Whether you’re interested in hiking, ATV riding, or exploring the jungle, it’s an incredible way to experience the lush, natural beauty of the region.
